1. Who We Are

Mochi is a pet care and health tracking application developed and operated by Studio Maruya LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company.

Studio Maruya LLC is responsible for the processing of personal data described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Data We Collect

Depending on how you use Mochi, we may collect and process the following information:

• Email address and account information required to create and manage an account.

• Authentication information processed through Firebase Authentication.

• Pet photos and documents voluntarily uploaded by you.

• Pet health and care information, including vaccinations, medications, veterinary visits, weight records, grooming records, feeding records, caretaker information, and other information you choose to store.

• Basic pet information such as name, species, breed, sex, date of birth, microchip number, passport information, insurance information, allergies and emergency contacts, where voluntarily provided.

• Subscription and purchase information.

• App usage, interaction, performance and diagnostic information.

• Device and technical information necessary to operate the service, synchronize your account, provide notifications, maintain security and understand app usage.

• App installation, launch and certain app event information used to measure the effectiveness of campaigns promoting Mochi.

• Content you choose to post in the Community feature, including posts, comments, your Community display name and an optional photo.

We do not store your payment card details. Payments are processed by the applicable payment provider.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use information for the following purposes:

• To create and manage your account.
• To provide and maintain Mochi.
• To store and synchronize your information across your devices.
• To provide reminders and notifications that you configure.
• To process and manage Premium subscriptions and purchases.
• To improve Mochi’s functionality, usability, performance and reliability.
• To diagnose technical problems and maintain the security of the service.
• To prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorized use.
• To understand how users interact with Mochi.
• To measure the effectiveness of campaigns promoting Mochi.
• To attribute app installations and certain app events to advertising campaigns where applicable.
• To comply with applicable legal obligations.
• To operate the Community feature, including displaying your posts and comments to other users and manually reviewing content before publication.

Legal Basis for Users in the EEA and Other Jurisdictions Where Applicable

Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on one or more of the following:

• Performance of a contract – where processing is necessary to provide the Mochi services you request.
• Legitimate interests – where necessary to operate, secure and improve Mochi, understand how the service is used, prevent abuse and maintain reliable operation, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
• Consent – where consent is required by applicable law, including for certain analytics or advertising measurement technologies.
• Legal obligation – where processing is necessary to comply with applicable law.

4. Third-Party Services

Mochi uses third-party services to provide, maintain, analyze and promote the application.

Google Firebase

We use services provided by Google LLC, including Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Firebase Analytics and related services.

These services may process account information, app usage information, device information, diagnostic information and information necessary to provide Mochi’s cloud functionality.

Google Play

We use Google Play to distribute the Android application and Google Play Billing to process subscriptions and purchases made through the Android app.

Google processes payment and transaction information according to its own terms and privacy policies.

Meta

Mochi uses the Meta App Events SDK to help measure the effectiveness of campaigns promoting Mochi.

The SDK may process or transmit technical information, device identifiers and information about certain app events, such as app installation or activation, for purposes including attribution, advertising measurement and campaign optimization.

Mochi does not use the Meta SDK to display third-party advertisements inside the application.

TikTok

Mochi uses the TikTok App Events SDK to help measure the effectiveness of campaigns promoting Mochi.

The SDK may process or transmit technical information, device or advertising identifiers and certain app events for purposes such as attribution, campaign measurement and optimization.

Mochi does not display TikTok advertisements inside the application.

Stripe

Where purchases are offered through our website, Stripe may be used to process those payments.

Studio Maruya LLC does not receive or store your complete payment card details.

5. Advertising and Campaign Measurement

Mochi does not display third-party advertising inside the app.

Studio Maruya LLC may, however, advertise Mochi through third-party platforms such as Meta and TikTok.

We may use measurement and attribution technologies provided by these platforms to understand whether advertising campaigns result in installations or other relevant actions.

Depending on your device, privacy settings and applicable law, these technologies may process information such as:

• App installation and launch events.
• Certain app interaction events.
• Device and technical information.
• Advertising or device identifiers where permitted.
• Information necessary to attribute an installation or app event to an advertising campaign.

This information may be used for campaign attribution, measurement and optimization.

We do not sell your personal data.

We do not provide the pet health records, veterinary information, pet photos, uploaded documents, notes or other pet-care content that you store in Mochi to Meta or TikTok for advertising purposes.

Where consent is required by applicable law for advertising measurement or similar technologies, such processing will be handled in accordance with those requirements.

6. International Data Transfers

Studio Maruya LLC is based in the United States, and some service providers may process information in the United States or other countries outside your country of residence.

Where applicable data protection law requires safeguards for international transfers, appropriate legally recognized transfer mechanisms may be used, including:

• Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), where applicable.
• The EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where applicable.
• Adequacy decisions or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.

7. Data Retention and Account Deletion

We retain your Mochi account and associated app data for as long as your account remains active, unless retention is required by applicable law.

You may permanently delete your account at any time directly within the app through Settings → Account → Delete Account.

When you delete your account, your Mochi account and the personal data associated with it are deleted immediately from our active systems.

Certain limited information may only be retained where required by law or where necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

Information processed independently by third-party service providers may be subject to their own retention and deletion policies.

8. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss or misuse.

Mochi uses Google Firebase infrastructure for its primary cloud functionality and encrypted connections when transmitting information.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Children’s Privacy

Mochi is not directed to children.

Users must meet the minimum age required to use the service under applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below the applicable minimum age.

If you believe that a child has provided personal data to us in violation of applicable law, please contact us at mochi@studiomaruya.com. We will investigate the request and take appropriate action.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, applicable privacy laws may provide you with rights regarding your personal data.

These rights may include:

• The right to access your personal data.
• The right to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
• The right to request deletion of your personal data.
• The right to restrict certain processing.
• The right to object to certain processing.
• The right to data portability where applicable.
• The right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
• The right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority where applicable.

If the GDPR applies to you, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority, including an authority in the country where you live or work.

11. Additional Regional Privacy Rights

Depending on your country, state or region of residence, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.

These may include rights concerning access, correction, deletion or certain uses or disclosures of personal information.

Where applicable, requests may be submitted to mochi@studiomaruya.com. We will process eligible requests in accordance with applicable law.

12. Website and Cookies

This Privacy Policy applies primarily to the Mochi mobile application.

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies necessary for its operation, functionality and security.

If analytics, advertising or other non-essential technologies are used on the website, information about those technologies and any choices available to users will be provided as required by applicable law.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Mochi, our service providers, legal requirements or our data practices.

When required by applicable law, we will provide notice of material changes through the app, our website, email or another appropriate method.

The current version of this Privacy Policy will always display its latest Effective Date.

14. Community / Forum Feature

Mochi includes an optional Community feature where you can post questions, comments and photos that are visible to other users of the app. This is different from the rest of your Mochi data, which is private to your account.

Content you post in the Community — including your post text, comments and any photo you attach — is displayed publicly to other Mochi users together with a display name that you choose. Your account name and email address are not shown to other users through the Community feature.

Community posts and comments are reviewed by Studio Maruya LLC before they become visible to other users. An automated filter may flag certain content (for example, content resembling spam, contact information, or medical advice) for that review; this filter does not itself publish, block or take any automatic action.

Once posted, Community Content remains visible to other users until you delete it, it is removed through moderation, or your account is deleted. If you delete your Mochi account, your Community posts and comments are deleted along with the rest of your account data, as described in Section 7 (Data Retention and Account Deletion).
